On the topic of race and ethnicity, [Aaron] McGruder said that to him, Obama is not black because he is not a descendant of a slave. “The person who is one of us in the White House is Michelle Obama and her momma,” [Aaron] McGruder said.

What do you think?? Are we really still in the place of the "us, them" mentality? With the OBAMAS, of all people?

that's crazy....in my opinion. I personally have not traced back my ancestors to know who exactly was or was not a slave... ??
There is still so much conflict between different races and ethnicities... do we REALLY need to have issues like this within our own race? Its like 5 steps back for every 2 forward! ugh
You know, I like Aaron McGruder, but that comment was a bit off the wall. If anything, Barack Obama is a TRUE African-American. He doesn't have to be a descendent of slaves. His father is pure-blooded Kenyan. Doesn't get more African than that.
